The rain on Sunday, January 28th did not stop Water Filters for Puerto Rico’s latest Rock Stars, Alida Pagan and Carmen Carrero, from seeing their plan through, providing water filters to families in Isabela and the surrounding communities. We received reports of people driving from Moca, to obtain a much-needed water filter as the area undergoes water rationing. As a line formed that afternoon, the presentation began. Providing a free water filter is just a small part of our mission, education on the importance of water safety, filter care, and human compassion is the other. We at Water Filters for Puerto know that our mission is in good hands with these two ladies. Eighty families received water filters that day despite the wet conditions, and many two-buckets systems were built.
Carmen an organizer, detailed planner, and mountain climber. In the photo to the left with her brother Eduardo. See her latest story here, and others soon to come and she and her team climb mountains to serve those most in need.
Alida our new “On the Ground” Commander, who is armed and ready to serve! Her focus is to reach areas on the island of highest need and coordinating the deliveries with our organization partners and volunteers.
We would be remiss if we did not thank Brad and Amy McFarland for their dedication to us, this project, and assisting with this, their final event as they turn their attention to the student’s in their classroom for the remainder of the school year.
Thank you for following our journey as we continue to aid the recovery in Puerto Rico. If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
